"Are they triplets?" "No, I found the other one in the parking lot and thought, 'why not?'"

First Day of School Part 2

Today went really well.  Isabelle was still as excited as she was last week and once again had a great day at school.  We are still working out how much time we need in the mornings.  Turns out we are a lot quicker at getting up and ready than I had thought.  I think I can safely wake up a little later than 6:45am tomorrow.  We may need to revisit the time issue once the snow starts to fall and there is more to put on in the mornings.  Thank goodness the kids can all for the most part dress themselves in their outside gear.

Isabelle did notice that there were far more children in the playground area this morning.  We had been reminding her that there would be more kids when she went back to school, but of course that means nothing to a 4-year-old until they actually see all the kids.  I am glad that Isabelle does so well in the mornings when we get to the school.  So far we as a family have taken her and picked her up.  There will be days when it’s just myself and the kids or just myself and Isabelle or she will be with her Dad.  When we arrive, she gives us all a hug and a kiss, sometimes a few extras and then happily goes though the gate into the playground.  She now knows where her backpack goes when she first arrives and then it’s off to play.  She will wave to us from the playground and even run over to get one last kiss though the fence from Maddy or Aidan.  But she’s happy.  And that makes me happy.

I noticed that there was one teacher on yard duty this morning who seemed to be collecting all the little kids who were not quite ready to have their mommy’s drop them off.  When we arrived she had just one sobbing boy, by the time the bell rang she had about 4-5 little boys all crying for their mommys.  I felt for them.  And it again made me thankful that Isabelle is so excited to be at school.  I hope when it’s time for the twins to go that they will be just as happy.

These photos are from last Monday, the only difference from today would be Isabelle’s hair, she was still that excited to go to school so I didn’t take any more photos of her.

First Day of School Part 1

Tomorrow is Isabelle’s first day of school…..sort of.  She is beyond excited.  She has been telling me many times today that she has one more sleep until schooooooooooooool!  I’ve typed it like that because that’s how she draws out the word in a high pitched tone.  It’s obvious that this girl is ready to go and I’m proud of her feeling that way.  Tomorrow Isabelle starts in a small group of children.  She only goes tomorrow and then has the rest of the week off.  Part 2 of the “First Day of School” will be next Monday because then she will go to school every day for half a day.

I picked up her uniform skort today from my Moms, she was fixing it for us so it fit her better, and she was more than willing to try it on for me when I got home.  She did not want to take this skort off.  I had to practically peel it off of her and convince her to wear something else.  Tried to explain to her that she would want to keep this clean for her big day tomorrow.  She agreed finally.

We also discussed what she would like in her lunch box for her snack.  She has chosen yogurt and apple slices.  And she also asked for Apple juice in her thermos.  She has also told me several times not to forget to pack her snack.  I think she and I will get her lunch bag and put the yogurt in it tonight before she goes to bed, and later I will get the apple ready.  I don’t know how she is going to sleep tonight!

Speaking of sleep, the kids have been playing musical bedrooms again.  The kids are good sleepers.  Always have been and so I try not to complain much about their sleep habits as I know that a lot of my Mommy friends would probably like to beat me up because our kids have always slept so well.  However, there is one child in our house that likes to take her time falling asleep.  She also feels that since she is awake, everyone else in the room should be as well.  You who know my children well, probably know who I am talking about.  Those who do not, her name is Madeline.  Madeline is our one child who is going to keep us on our toes.  When the school secretary calls one of us, it will be because of Madeline.  When another parent phones us, it will be because of Madeline.  Anyways…..

Madeline likes to talk to her lamb, or mermaid barbie, or go though the drawers in the dresser, or the closet, or look at books in the dark, she likes to get out of bed for any reason possible.  If Madeline goes to bed at 8pm, she doesn’t actually go to bed until almost 9:30 some nights.  She has been rooming with Isabelle since we got the house ready to sell.   Isabelle can usually fall asleep despite Madeline’s attempts to keep her awake.  We’ve decided that it might be best for Isabelle to move in with Aidan while we are still here in Milton now that she is starting school.  Aidan is almost always asleep the second you close his door.  So we have put them together in hopes that they both get lots of sleep and Madeline and entertain herself in Isabelle’s room.  Isabelle already told me this morning that she slept much better being with Aidan.  So we will see how this goes and we will see what our next house bring us for sleeping arrangements.  I’d like a 3+1 home, but lately I’ve been thinking we may need a 4+1 home.  That’s a whole other story for another day.

The girls are playing nicely while Aidan has a nap, the breeze coming though the house feels good and thankfully today has been a better day than yesterday.  I will have a full report from Isabelle as to how her first day of school goes tomorrow.

Changes are coming

As usual I find myself with little time and attention to write a post.  Its been quite some time since my last entry, as in I can’t even remember when I posted or what it was about.  We have been so busy with things lately that I just have not even thought about keeping up with the blog.  For you readers out there I do apologize and I realize I may not even have an audience anymore.  This wouldn’t be the first time I’ve talked to myself so I’m okay with it.

I’ve been keeping a secret.  We’re moving.  Most of you I talk to on a regular basis already know this.  It’s actually old news, but I just wasn’t able to post it and then when I could, I was so busy I never had the time.  We have been working hard lately getting the house ready to be put on the market.  We tidied up, cleaned out, painted, put in some new carpet, cleaned up the yard etc.  It took longer than we had hoped but the house is on the market just waiting for that right person to come along.

We also had a family trip to Evergreen Resort again this year.  We went twice last year and the kids loved it so much that we hope to make a yearly trip there as time goes on.  The kids enjoyed the lake, but loved the pool.  At least the girls did, Aidan is still not sure he likes being in anything larger than the bath tub.  The girls went down the water slide 3 times each and just loved it.  All three kids learned how to plug their noses and hold their breath to go under water!  They had a blast playing at the park and on the sandy beach.  It was a nice little break for us, I wish we could have stayed longer but it was time to come back to the house.  We’ve had a handful of showings and two open houses.  We are going to see how the week/end goes and then decide if we want to change the price at all.

Isabelle went to her school here in Milton for a 20 minute “meet the teacher and visit the classroom” visit.  Her teacher seems really nice and I think Isabelle will really like her.  On Monday, she goes back for a small group visit which will last about 20-30 minutes I believe.  Then her real first day of school is the following Monday.  Isabelle is so ready for this, that she didn’t quite understand why she had to leave the school today and come home.  While I’m happy that she’s in the morning class, I almost think that Isabelle is ready for all day JK and hopefully we will see what Windsor has in store for us school wise.

The kids know about the move and are excited about it, but I think they have calmed down some since it’s taking a while for the house to sell.  They are certainly happier now that Ian and I aren’t as busy as we had been with getting the house ready.

Well my free time has come to an end.  Time to get dinner going so that we can hopefully have some time outside afterwards to play.  It was so hot and muggy today that we didn’t get outside yet to play.  I will do my best to keep posting a little more frequently now that Isabelle is starting school and I’m sure will have lots of stories to share.
