We were outside this afternoon with Grandma. We noticed there were some hornets flying around and I had suggested that it may be time to bring the kids in if these hornets were not going to leave us alone. I went in the house to check on dinner and the next thing I know the kids are being escorted in the house and I hear the words “she’s been stung”!
Poor Maddy got stung not just once, but twice by a hornet! Grandma and I did our very best first aiding for Madeline. She apparently never cried once the stinging had happened, but once I put on the anti sting medication did she ever let loose with the screams. Her screaming upset Isabelle. So I gave Isabelle a very important job of going upstairs to the twins bedroom to retrieve Madeline’s lamb. And if she felt she needed it, she could get her puppy and bring it down also. As we were fixing up Maddy, Isabelle announced “I coming”! Once Maddy had her lamb the tears stopped. She sat with Grammy who held on her boo boo pack (ice pack) on her sting site.
By dinner Maddy was fine and not complaining of her stings, unless you went near them. Gave her some meds at bedtime to help her sleep since not only does she have the sting sites that are painful, but she’s getting about 4 teeth at once. It’s just not her day.
I think we are going to have to start looking around for this hornet nest and see about getting it sprayed. I can’t have the kids outside with these angry little buggers. The kids love to be outside and I want to get them out there as much as possible before they require 13 layers of clothes to get out there! I’m looking forward to seeing what the twins will think of winter and if Isabelle will remember what winter is also. I am not looking forward to all the clothing again however. I have to get Aidan a new winter coat. Maddy should be able to fit in Isabelle’s and I’ll most likely have to get Isabelle a new one also. Kids cost way too much money! Thank goodness ours are pretty cute!!
The laundry monster is calling. Time to go sort clothes, find my bed under the pile and hopefully get some extra sleep tonight.
