"Are they triplets?" "No, I found the other one in the parking lot and thought, 'why not?'"

Teeth make for a cranky kid

Teeth, teeth and more teeth. Poor Isabelle. Isabelle has been getting molars. She got 3 at once!! The fourth is making it’s way though the gums now. She was pretty cranky getting the 3 at once and I certainly don’t blame her. She also had a runny nose from teething. In the past with her other teeth she barely even noticed they were coming in. She may have had a runny nose but it didn’t last long. A week ago it felt like she was the queen of snot. It’s getting better now which is nice, I don’t have to chase her around with a kleenex in hand.

We’ve discovered that Isabelle has a love for grapes and pineapple. So we’ve been buying lots of it to keep her happy at meal times. She’s doing really well with eating. She likes to take her time and taste her food which is nice for us because it means she can take part in family meals. I’m glad she doesn’t wolf down her food and then want out of her chair while the rest of us eat. She enjoys being a part of the family meal. She sure gets a lot of attention during this time.

Our stay at the in laws is going well. We are a bit cramped around the kitchen table at times, but I think it’s nice. We sometimes have to eat in shifts because Madeline or Aidan are choosing that time to be awake and fussy. The driveway is also a little on the full side as Ian and I bought two vehicles. Add that in to the 4 other vehicles that are parked at the house and it makes for a bit of a full driveway. We have to make sure that Megan can get out for work in the morning or if Bonnie needs to go out we have to do a bit of a shuffle. As for what kind of vehicles, we have a minivan and a Jetta. The van is pretty sweet, it has stow and go seating which is awesome since we have 3 kiddies in car seats. Isabelle is at the back and the twins are in the middle captain seats.

I’ve found that it’s just easier to put Isabelle in though the trunk of the van. This will become a little more complicated if there is something in the trunk. It will be better once Isabelle can pop herself into her own seat. The Jetta is pretty awesome because it’s a diesel. This will come in handy for Ian’s commute to work.

Now that we are home owners we have to look at buying everything for the home. The list is pretty long seeing as how we have a kitchen table but no chairs and a coffee table but no other living room furniture, a bed but no frame or other bedroom furniture. A yard, but no lawn mower or bbq or hose etc. IKEA here I come!!!

Madeline and Aidan are doing well. They go for a well baby check up next week. Grandpa is coming with us since Ian heads back up north on Sunday. They will get weighed and measured and as well have their two month immunizations. I hate getting these because it makes them cry, but I can deal with the crying if it means they don’t get sick. Small price to pay.
Aidan seems to be having some troubles with gas these days. Madeline does also but not the same as Aidan. I hope this comes to an end soon since I don’t like hearing them cry out in pain. I’ll post an update about them after their appointment. We are going tomorrow to get their photos done with Isabelle. It will be nice to a have photo of all three. I think once we move and get settled we’ll work on a family photo. We’d do it on this trip but Ian looks like the bushman.

Ian is headed back up north on Sunday for work stuff and to hopefully get our move date pushed up a little so that he can be back for the possession date of our house. We have a bunch of stuff to sign at that point and it would be a lot better if he was here rather than having to send it all back and forth through the mail. I’m sad to see him go. It’s going to give me a pretty good taste of what it will feel like with him going back to work. I was hoping the twins would have been on a bit better schedule by now but we will see what happens in the next few weeks. I don’t know when Ian is starting his new job but I would guess he would be needed at work within a few days of us getting to Milton.

Well I’m off to bed, the babies are asleep in their car seats as we took them for a walk and then a drive to get them to sleep. I have no idea how long they are going to sleep for so I may be sleeping on the couch for a while. I’ll try to take some photos of the kiddies over the next week or so and post them to the photo site.

We are officially home owners!

It’s true, we’ve joined the rest of the adults our age in home ownership.
We went to Milton feeling pretty good that we would find something quickly. Our first night there we saw a handful of homes and felt pretty confident that we had found the one. We thought about it and saw a few more homes the next day. We wanted to ask the realtor to set up an appointment to see the home we really liked. We then had our dreams crushed when she told us that the house had conditionally sold. Crushed we went and looked at more homes. We finally had an up day on Thursday. It was great because my parents had the twins so we could really focus on looking. We saw 4 homes that day that all fell into our criteria. We put them all in an order of what wasa the best down to what would work but wasn’t perfect. Finally we decided that we weren’t going to wait until the next day to put in our offer. Our agent had to work a late night but come 1am we settled upon a price for our home.

As of yesterday the house is officially ours!! We also have two new to us vehicles. We have a red dogde grand caravan and a grey diesel Jetta. We should be picking them up tomorrow afternoon. We like to think that we were trying to jump start the economy with all these purchases we had to make. We still have to buy furniture for the home also!!

Ian is here for one more week and then he heads back up to Tuk for court and to oversee our move. Someone has to sit and watch the movers pack up our junk. We are also going to sell a bunch of our things also just to help lighten the load. And we’ll sell some things that have a greater chance of breaking and we’ll just buy new with that money we make.

We’re looking forward to the move, the big stressful part is over for the most part. We’re here, we’ve got a home and two cars, now we just need our stuff to show up and start un packing! There are pictures on facebook and at some point I’ll get those pictures on to our other photo site.

Babies are fussing so away I go.

We have arrived

We are here! It’s great to be back in Ontario, right in time for Swine Flu! The trip home was long and we’re glad it’s over. Flying with three children is quite the ordeal. It will be a long, very long, time before we travel by plane again.

The two highlights of our trip, well I’d probably call them low points was the teeny tiny airplane that arrived in Tuk to fly us to Inuvik. We (the detachment) had to charter a plane so we could get to Inuvik on time. The regular airline canceled their flights on us and so we wouldn’t be able to make the rest of our flights. The plane that showed up was a 4 passenger cessna! Technically it had 6 seats, but the pilot is in one and if there had been a co pilot he would have been in the other. Ian and Isabelle were the co pilots for the trip, then it was myself and Lorrie and behind us were the twins in their car seats. Here is the list of everything else that had to fit into this teeny tiny plane:

1 extra large pink polka dotted suitcase
1 large suitcase
1 large duffle bag
2 infant car seat bases
1 forward facing car seat
1 diaper bag
2 carry on sized bags
1 laptop
1 camera
1 stroller
1 action packer, if you are a northerner you know what this is. If not, think Rubbermaid container but 100 times more durable and lockable.
2 dogs, in in extra large kennel and one in avg size kennel***

*** the dogs did not make the trip as the plane was obviously too small and too full!!
We made it to Inuvik, I was surprised we made it off the runway!!

The next low point was in Calgary. Please keep in mind that we had flown with the twins in their carseats and Isabelle on our lap from Inuvik to YK, YK to Edmonton, Edmonton to Calgary.

We show up at the Calgary airport with hours to spare since we were carting around all this luggage and kids. We checked in no problem. Had some lunch and then made our way though security. Then the time came to preboard. And this is where the problem came. They had hauled out the rule book and it said that we were not allowed to travel because there would be one parent with two kids and that’s not allowed. I kept explaining to them that the twins were in car seats and only Isabelle needed to be held. This is why we bought 5 seats for every plane we had to be on. According to them they said it’s still against the rules. So they asked us to step aside and wait for everyone else to board since there was a WestJet guy coming to talk to us.

So the guy arrived and explained that we shouldn’t have been able to fly at all. According to Transport Canada there has to be an adult for every child under the age of 2. So luckily we got to adopt a WestJet employee who was on her way to London also. If she hadn’t been willing to be “responsible” for a kid then we wouldn’t have been able to fly. If that was the case I would have lost my mind!!

Any ways, we are here and I’m happy, Ian’s happy, Isabelle is happy and so are th twins. Well I’m on my way out for a bit, I love being able to get out again!!
